Anna Therese George

Anna is a mezzo-soprano, conductor, and composer from Green Bay, Wisconsin who recently completed her Bachelors of Music in Voice Performance at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, where she studied under Professor Elizabeth Byrne, and pursued extended studies in conducting, composition, and orchestration. She is also a multi-instrumentalist with a focus in guitar, and songwriter.

Biography

Anna Therese George is a twenty-two year old mezzo-soprano, conductor, and composer hailing from Green Bay, Wisconsin. Anna recently completed her Bachelors of Music in Classical Vocal Performance at the Chicago College of Performing Arts in Chicago, Illinois, where she studied under Professor Elizabeth Byrne, and pursued extended studies in conducting, composition, and orchestration.In high school, Anna has studied voice and vocal performance with Dr. Courtney Sherman at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay, as well as singing chorally for seven years, performing in show choirs for nine years, and performing as a cast member in musicals for four, not including another year as a pit orchestra member on guitar. She also regularly sang the National Anthem for the Green Bay local baseball team, the Green Bay Rockers. She also performed a selection of solo repertoire for the YWCA Women of Vision event in May 2022.As well, she participated in Green Bay Southwest High School’s choirs for four years under the direction of Mr. Brandon Rockstroh, and conducted for the SWHS Choral program, including the National Anthem for the world-champion Milwaukee Bucks, and Southwest High School's senior song, "And Wherever You Go." She was also nominated her senior year for the local Bush Music Competition scholarship.Anna's first professional production outside of school was The Book of Empty Pages with the Birder Players in De Pere, Wisconsin, composed by Brandon Rockstroh, in June-July 2023. Afterwards, Anna began her opera debut as False Boy in Kurt Weill's The Tsar has His Photograph Taken in the CCPA Undergraduate Opera, and the following summer, as Dritter Knabe in Die Zauberflöte with the Berlin Opera Academy this past July and August, 2024. She continued on through her junior year of university with her first two principal roles, Ma Moss in Copland's The Tender Land in the CCPA Undergraduate Opera, and Cherubino in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro in the CCPA Spring Opera. In August 2025, she performed with Chicago Summer Opera as Ruggiero in Handel's Alcina.In November 2025, she performed as Le Prince Charmant in Viardot's salon operetta, Cendrillon. Alongside her operatic appearances, Anna made her debut as a conductor in Fall 2025 in a non-degree chamber orchestra recital, leading Haydn's 45th Symphony, "Farewell." She also reprised the Menagerie of Mezzos non-degree recital in the spring semester, and finished her degree with her senior recital, featuring repertoire by Mahler, Brahms, Handel, Milhaud, Rossini, Frank E. Warren, and herself - alongside the CCPA Spring Opera as Soeur Mathilde in Poulenc's Dialogues des carmélites. Her last CCPA performance was with the CCPA Vocal Ensemble and Advanced Ensemble as a singer, and a student conductor with the Vocal Ensemble.Anna continues into the summer with engagements in Great Lakes Operetta's production of Orpheus in the Underworld as Assistant Music Director, and with Skokie Presents: Third Coast Symphony as the Assistant Conductor, under the direction of Music Director Victor Muenzer.
Alongside her conducting engagements in the summer, she works as the Social Media Coordinator for Performers Music, where she also works in sales.
